Dream Fencing Club had four members enter the last of the Elite Epee series of Junior competitions 2013/14.
Lily Madgwick, U11 girls, Muhammed and Ibraheen Farnsworth U11 boys and Patricia Kiy U16 girls.
Patricia won two poule fights and lost three, two of them 5 hits to 4. Her first DE went really well and she won 15:6. Unfortunately as her poule hadn’t been brilliant her next DE brought her face to face with the first seed Douce De Boisgelin who beat her 15:7. Patricia came twelfth.
In the U11 boys Ibraheen won three of five poule fights and Muhammed won four out of his five fights. Ibraheen was knocked out by Nye Jones giving him a tenth place finish and Muhammed was later knocked out by Ethan Anderson 10:8 after a close match, giving Muhammed a sixth place finish.
Lily Madgwick in the U11 girls won seven of her eight poule fights, a really great start to the competition, and was seeded first. Lily fought well through her DE rounds until she met Henriette Hadalin who upped her game to beat Lily 10 hits to 6. Disappointed not to get to the final Lily was consoled with a well-earned bronze medal for herself and Dream Fencing club. Congratulations Lily.
An excellent competition, well run by Chris Howser, on time and giving lots of fencers a great day out.
